HOW IT BEGAN

through the story of their proposal

Colton and Christi's proposal unraveled through a fun activity that captured the essence of their relationship. Colton, being the thoughtful guy he is, planned a scavenger hunt with nine cleverly placed clues at locations that held special memories for them.

The adventure kicked off at Christi's house, where her roommates and sister piled into a car, with only the first clue.

CLUE ONE: “It all started here, with a bottle of beer. Looking better than a Dos fully dressed, I asked you to dance and did my best.”

Hurricain harrys

Their first stop was Hurricane Harry's, a famous two-stepping hall that brought them together for the first time. After an Auburn game, they sought warmth and fun in the two-stepping dance hall on a chilly night. Thanks to a mutual friend, they connected and shared a dance, both not realizing the significance of that moment.

CLUE TWO: “There is no mystery why she caught my eye, I was looking for ranch girls far and wide. She may not remember my name, but with a backpack like that I had to give it a try.”

Harvest Coffee shop

Following the clue's reveal at Hurricane Harry's, they proceeded to Harvest, the local coffee shop where Colton asked Christi on their very first date. God seemed to be playing his part as Christi, setting up her workstation there, caught Colton's eye. Recognizing her from their previous encounter, he boldly reintroduced himself, sparking the beginning of their adventures together.

CLUE THREE: “Beer before liquor never sicker, liquor before beer in the clear. Playing doms and drinking pitchers, that got you hitched way quicker.”

the dixie chicken

Another riddle led them to their next destination—The Dixie Chicken, an iconic spot filled with countless cherished memories. The place became their go-to spot for dates, often marking the start or end of their escapades. Colton discovered Christi's dominos skills here, and their games together became the stuff of legends (depending on who you ask). Their frequent visits earned them recognition and friendship with the staff, and they even pitched in to help run the place on one occasion.

CLUE FOUR: “Grandma’s house was the place to go, to ‘study’… but really to watch our relationship grow”

Following the scavenger hunt's clues, Colton and Christi reached Kyle House, a quaint coffee shop where they spent many afternoons trying to study (with mixed success). Their Sundays often began with a coffee and kolache stop before heading to church, where they also discussed their aspirations for a future family the first time.

CLUE FIVE: “If I’m going to kiss her, I better move quicker. Walked her to her door, swung hard to score.”

the KYLE HOUSE

FAIRVIEW

The next clue led them to Christi's senior year house, Fairview, which was filled with iconic moments. From Texas snow days to cooking together and movie nights, the house held a special place in their hearts. Notably, it was also the scene of a kitchen fire that Colton valiantly extinguished (as you can see), but most importantly, it was where they shared their first kiss.

CLUE SIX: “Doing sketchy kid stuff was the thing to do, falling in my arms had me falling for you”

DUNCAN DINING

The following clue led them to an exciting location that perfectly suited their shared sense of adventure—scaling the buildings of the Texas A&M campus. Duncan Dining Hall, in particular, held a special memory as one of their favorite daring dates, with many other buildings following suit.

CLUE SEVEN: “No better place to loose my voice than being the 12th Man next to you”

Kyle field

The scavenger hunt's next hint directed them to Kyle Field, where Colton's deep connection to the university and its stadium, being a fifth-generation Aggie, came to the fore. They cherished their dating days, attending every home game they could, with Colton's enthusiasm as the 12th man being Christi’s favorite part.

CLUE EIGHT: “Come on over and take a walk with me. I’ve got a question and this campus has a tree.”

The century tree.

the final destination. where he put a ring on it.

After an eagerly awaited build-up, they finally reached the last clue, leading them to their ultimate destination—the Century Tree, where he asked her the question.
